This Ribbon Thermocouple provides a thermal junction with fast response times, a lower lead resistance and is more flexible than the simple bead thermocouples. This thermocouple design gives maximum flexibility and will bend to mate with irregular surfaces for fast response times in the low millisecond range.
There are various exposed Ribbon Thermocouple designs. This design has fiberglass insulation on the lead wires and is usable to 700 degrees Fahrenheit. Ceramic insulation on the lead wires and a stainless steel sheath are used for high temperatures.
