Our rub and contact thermocouple RDD Model consists of a soft brass disc brazed to a thermocouple element. The disc and thermocouple are mounted into a high temperature plastic housing. This housing is spring-loaded and inserted into an aluminum mounting block. This thermocouple has 36 inches of fiberglass insulated leads. Although, most any lead configuration and plug assembly can be added. The device uses a spring rate of 5.83 pounds per inch.

Our rub and contact thermocouple FFM Model (not shown) has a self-renewing thermal junction. Mounted in a "V" notch machined in thermowell which is spring-loaded inside an aluminum mounting block. This thermocouple has 36 inches of fiberglasses insulated leads (36 inches is standard). Although, most any lead configuration and plug assembly can be added. This device can be used when direct contact with fine fibers and metals; such as, controlling pre-induction heaters during fiber processing, plastic coating of wires, fiber processing, and etc. This device has response times in the low milliseconds and a maximum service temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit. A maximum wire speed of 3,000 fpm it has a self-renewing junction which will provide accuract sensing until 3/8 inch has worn off the tipe of the FFM sensor.
